FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are the advantages of using an in home pet care service?
Having a qualified pet care professional come to your home allows your pets to remain in their usual environment, eating and exercise routines. This greatly reduces stress and anxiety, prevents exposure to illness, and allows for personalized individual attention. You are spared the hassle of transporting your pet, or feeling like you are imposing on friends/family. Additionally while caring for your pet, I am able to check on the status and security of your home and give it the appearance of being occupied while you are away.
Are you insured? I've seen others state they're bonded. Why don't you?
Yes, I am insured through Pet Sitters Associates, LLC. This helps to cover situations and protect your property. Instead of being bonded I have an optional added coverage in my plan that provides maximum security for you.
Why do I need to give you 2 copies of my keys?
This enables me to keep one copy in a locked, safe place should anything happen to the one I will keep on me. If you prefer to use a hide away key located on your property as a back up that is fine too.
Do you do overnights?
At this time I do not offer that service but may in the future. Be sure to mention your need for it so I can keep it in mind. All my services are performed in your home- I do not offer boarding in my home.
Do you do group off leash outings?
No I do not. Taking the leash off and adding more dogs introduces a large amount of unpredictable factors into the equation. This is a personal choice I have made in order to assure maximum safety and security for your dog. Leashes are required at all times unless your dog is in the confines of your yard with proper fencing.
What if my pet becomes ill or is hurt while in your care?
Having experience in a veterinary clinical setting allows me to handle this situation in a calm, practical, and timely manner. I will asses the situation, check your pet's vital signs, and call you. Should we decide that medical care is necessary, I will take them to the clinic of your choice. This information is included in my paperwork you are required to fill out, as well as an approved monetary amount to get treatment started immediately. Should this occur after hours I will use Pet Emergency Treatment Service on University Avenue in Berkeley unless you prefer another emergency clinic.
Can I have a list of references? Absolutely just ask! For the privacy of my clients I do not publicly post their information and ask that you request this once you are seriously considering Releash the Hounds for your pet care service.
How do I arrange for service?
Contact Jodi Steyer by phone 510.532.5728 or email to discuss your needs. At that time we will talk about your situation, rates, and set up an initial meeting. This free one time get together allows me to come meet you and your pets in person. Typically it takes about 30 minutes. It will give you the chance to tell and show me about the usual flow of your household. We will also fill out the necessary paperwork and I will receive and test your house keys. If you have access to email and a printer I can send you the forms as PDF files and you can fill them out ahead of time.
